Russia Is Not Armenia's Enemy and Will Never Be: Zakharova

Russia is not Armenia's enemy and will never be. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Moscow's stern response to Yerevan's recent blunt statements is due to the fact that they are based on falsehoods or attempts to distort the facts. We do not even pay much attention to the tone and personal insults, but to the inaccuracies that are at the core of the statements made. That is why the Armenian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry,” Zakharova said during the Eastern Economic Forum.

According to her, if they were to respond to the daily coarse remarks directed at them, they would no longer work, but would only write protest notes. Secondly, it is not their style to respond to such rudeness.

Zakharova stated that they rise above these daily quarrels and respond in cases where fundamental concepts are being distorted. “It is not Russia that recognized Baku's rights over Nagorno-Karabakh, but the Armenian leadership has done so. The people of Armenia should decide how to relate to that. However, one should not blame and place responsibility on Russia for decisions made in Yerevan. One should not seek an enemy in Russia. Russia has never been and will never be Armenia's enemy. It will never be,” she emphasized.

Zakharova added that she understands the great temptation to find culprits when something is not going well or not going as expected, but not in this particular case. Because this can lead to disastrous consequences, which is dangerous for Armenia.

It is noteworthy that Alen Simonyan stated during an interview with journalists that he does not intend to respond to some department or some secretary, as it is not at his level.
