Japanese Government Resigns in Full
The Japanese government has resigned in full. This was reported by the Kyodo agency.
It is noted that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has accepted the resignation of the ministers.
Kishida is set to hold a meeting with the leader of the ruling coalition’s Komeito party, Natsuo Yamaguchi, regarding the formation of a new Cabinet. After that, a new government will be established, with its composition being confirmed by Japan's Emperor Naruhito during a special ceremony.
In the new government, 13 out of 19 ministers will be replaced, with 11 of them assuming such positions for the first time. Five ministries will be headed by women, marking the highest number compared to Shinzo Abe's second administration.
Last year, Kishida announced the new composition of the Japanese government. The Prime Minister had indicated his desire to refresh the Cabinet as early as the autumn of 2021.
