Shirak Football Club Fined a Total of 3.4 Million Drams, Says AFF
The Football Federation of Armenia has imposed a total fine of 3.4 million drams on Shirak FC during a meeting of the disciplinary and ethics committee. The majority of the fines were handed down following the match against Urartu on August 26 in Gyumri, which ended in a 0:2 defeat for Shirak.
Specifically, according to the minutes of the meeting, Shirak FC employee Suren Simonian stormed onto the pitch, verbally abused the fourth official, and attempted to assault him. Simonian has been suspended from his official duties for six months, effective from November 18, 2023, due to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Moreover, Shirak FC has been fined 1.5 million drams, which is the minimum wage multiplied by a factor of one hundred. Also, Shirak administrator Zhora Simonyan was suspended for three matches for attempting to assault the referee, while player Lyova Karapetyan was suspended for three matches for attempting to strike the fourth official. As a result, the team was additionally fined 300,000 drams.
