Lachin Corridor Must Be Reopened: Agdam Can Be a Component, But Not an Alternative, Borrell to Bayramov

The Lachin corridor must be reopened. This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during a phone conversation with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. He made a post on X social media, noting, "I reiterated my concern regarding the humanitarian situation faced by the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Lachin corridor must be reopened now. Other routes, such as Agdam, can be opened as a component of the solution, but not as an alternative," he wrote.

As previously reported, the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh have decided to allow the entry of Russian cargo through Stepanakert, based on the need to mitigate the acute humanitarian problems arising from the full blockade imposed by Azerbaijan. At the same time, an agreement was reached to restore humanitarian transport via the Lachin corridor by Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
