Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Response to Pashinyan's Statements

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has criticized the statements made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the government meeting today.

“The accusations made by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan during the government meeting on September 7 regarding Azerbaijan escalating the military-political situation in the region and concentrating armed forces reflect political manipulation by Armenia,” said a statement from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

During today's government meeting, Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan has been accumulating troops along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border, emphasizing that the military-political situation in the region has significantly deteriorated. He also mentioned that the policy of encroachment on the sovereign territory of Armenia continues.

According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, “the real threat to security in the region comes from Armenia’s military-political provocations, territorial demands from Azerbaijan, and the Armenian armed forces that have not yet been withdrawn from Azerbaijani territory contrary to their obligations.”

“To establish peace and security in the region, the Armenian side must abandon its territorial claims against Azerbaijan, cease military-political provocations, and stop hindering the successful conclusion of the negotiations process for a peace treaty,” states Baku’s official position.

It is noteworthy that earlier, we reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had announced during a government meeting that Azerbaijan is accumulating troops along the contact line in Artsakh and on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border.
