Increase in Western-Minded Media Outlets Targeting CSTO and EAEU in Armenia: Zakharova

Armenian media outlets with Western leanings, aiming to discredit our country and its relations with Armenia, are on the rise, stated Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during her welcoming speech to participants of the Russian-Armenian media forum in Yerevan.

“We are observing negative reports that question Russia’s constructive role in the region. Unfortunately, there are also information resources in Armenia that openly ‘throw mud’ on our mutual cooperation, including within the framework of the CSTO and EAEU,” she said.

According to her, the Armenian information space is dominated by one-sided coverage of information regarding Russia. “This propaganda is not only encouraged but is also being promoted by the ‘collective West’ through numerous so-called NGOs and ‘experts’ who are generously funded. Moreover, they are not at all concerned with the future of the region; their ultimate goal is to create discord between fraternal peoples under the guise of beautiful words, undermine security and stability, and reduce Russia’s influence, while creating chaos worldwide,” she added.
