Two Arrested for Demolishing a Section of the Great Wall of China

In China, a man and a woman have been arrested for demolishing a section of the Great Wall of China with an excavator, local media reports. During interrogation, they stated that they were working at a construction site near the Great Wall. They explained their actions by saying that they wanted to shorten their commuting route to work.

The damaged section of the wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). According to police, the arrested individuals caused irreparable damage to the structure.
