School Fall Break Dates Announced
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has approved the exemplary educational plans for the 2023-2024 academic year for institutions implementing basic state educational programs in general education.
Classes for the 2023-2024 academic year in institutions conducting basic state programs (general, specialized, and special) for grades 1-12 will begin on September 1, 2023, and conclude on May 24, 2024. This schedule accounts for a 5-day working week, while those schools operating on a 6-day week will conclude on May 25, ensuring at least 30 educational weeks for the first grade, 32 for the second grade, and 34 for grades 3-12.
During the academic year, students in grades 3-12 will have the following breaks: autumn break from October 23 to 29, 2023; winter break from December 25, 2023, to January 7, 2024; and spring break from March 25 to 31, 2024.
First graders will have their autumn break from October 16 to 29, 2023; winter break from December 25, 2023, to January 21, 2024; and spring break from March 18 to 31, 2024.
Second graders will have their autumn break from October 23 to 29, 2023; winter break from December 25, 2023, to January 21, 2024; and spring break from March 25 to 31, 2024.
The Ministry of Education reserves the right to declare additional breaks in case of emergencies (unfavorable weather conditions, the spread of contagious diseases, natural disasters, etc.) and to make adjustments to the academic schedule and the designated break times for students.
