Photos: The Bearded Vulture Found by the Patrol Service Has Been Released into the Wild
Three weeks ago, a bearded vulture found by the patrol service in the city of Alaverdi was released back into the wild. This was reported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.
The young bearded vulture, which had likely fallen due to a collision with electrical wires, was transported to Yerevan, where it was cared for and rehabilitated thanks to the efforts of the NGOs "BirdLynx Armenia" and "Protection of Endemic and Endangered Species". Specialists from the Armenian branch of the German Nature Conservation Union installed a satellite transmitter on the bird, enabling lifelong tracking.
In its final week of care, the bird was already prepared for an independent life. On September 4, the bearded vulture was jointly released in the territory of the "Khosrov Forest" State Reserve, near Mount Eranos.
The bearded vulture is a predatory bird listed in the Red Book of Armenia’s animals. Despite a stable trend in the population of bearded vultures over the past 20 years, their overall number remains relatively low, with only 34-38 breeding pairs.
