Video: March in Washington. American Armenians march towards the White House
Armenians in Washington are marching towards the White House, demanding sanctions against Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's regime and an end to the blockade of Artsakh. This has been reported by Armenian Telegram channels, which have also published footage from the march.
Earlier today, a group of citizens held a protest in front of the UNICEF office in Yerevan, calling for the UN to take effective measures to restore the rights of 30,000 children trapped in the blockade in Artsakh.
It is important to recall that on December 12, 2022, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh to Armenia, under the pretext of environmental concerns. On April 23, Azerbaijan established a checkpoint on the Lachin road, taking full control of it.
According to the Artsakh government, during the blockade, Azerbaijan has completely or partially interrupted gas supplies from Armenia to Artsakh for a total of 197 days, while electricity supply has been completely disrupted for 235 days. This has led to daily rolling blackouts and additional emergency shutdowns, as well as the closure or reduction of activities of many institutions.
During the blockade, the economy of the Republic of Artsakh has suffered approximately $501 million in damages, resulting in a failure to meet about 55% of the projected annual GDP figure (903 million dollars).
