Protest Outside UN Office in Yerevan
A group of citizens are currently protesting in front of the UNICEF office in Yerevan, demanding that the UN take effective action to restore the rights of 30,000 children trapped in the blockade in Artsakh.
"In Artsakh, they value knowledge and education so much that they are trying to send children to school even under these circumstances. But there is no fuel, children are malnourished, some are ill, and there have even been cases of fainting today. It is great that international organizations are making statements, but if they do not stop the genocides, then they are not sufficient," said Nare Simonian, the organizer of the protest, in her speech.
The participants remind that statements do not solve problems and do not help the children of Artsakh, thus rendering UNICEF's claim that all children are equal void.
The protesters are also demanding that the UN Security Council adopt a resolution condemning Azerbaijan's actions based on the statements made during the meeting on August 16. They voiced their demands in English in front of the UNICEF office, after which two participants were allowed inside to deliver a letter.
