“It’s a Dangerous Step”: Lukashenko Responds to Demands from Poland and the Baltic States
The demands from Poland and the Baltic States to withdraw fighters from the Wagner private military company from Belarus are foolish and baseless, stated the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
He noted that the leadership of Poland and the Baltic States is inciting hysteria over the presence of Wagner fighters in Belarus, while they are increasing their military budgets and concentrating large military formations near the borders of Belarus.
“They have reached the point where they are demanding their immediate withdrawal from Belarus. Those are baseless and foolish demands,” Lukashenko was quoted by the BelTA agency.
Lukashenko also drew attention to the fact that Warsaw has announced a decision not to comply with the treaty regarding conventional armed forces in Europe concerning Belarus; this document, in fact, is the last legally binding international act in the area of arms control. The Belarusian leader emphasized that this is a dangerous step.
