Vachagan Ghazaryan to Return Four Parcels of Land from "Yerablur" Military Pantheon to Armenia
The former head of security for Armenia’s third president Serge Sargsyan, Vachagan Ghazaryan, along with associated individuals, has submitted a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia regarding the transfer of four parcels of land from the "Yerablur" military pantheon back to state ownership. The information was reported by the Armenian Prosecutor's Office.
It is important to note that on October 20, 2020, the Department for the Seizure of Illegally Obtained Property of the Prosecutor General’s Office started an investigation into the properties belonging to Vachagan Ghazaryan and his associates. As a result of the investigation, the Prosecutor's Office submitted a petition to the Anti-Corruption Court on May 31, 2022, requesting the seizure of approximately 1 billion 647 million AMD and assets valued at 7 billion AMD in favor of the Republic of Armenia, claiming they were obtained unlawfully.
“Based on the application, a settlement agreement was signed on August 22, 2023, between the Prosecutor General’s Office and the applicants, which was presented to the Anti-Corruption Court on the same day for legal approval,” the statement noted.
On August 30, 2023, during a session at the Anti-Corruption Court, it was decided that the court ruling would be published the following day, August 31.
It should be reminded that the mentioned four properties have been assessed as assets obtained through evident criminal means within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee of the National Security Service.
