Moscow Refuses to Investigate Prigozhin's Plane Crash According to International Norms

Russia has informed Brazil's air incidents investigation body that it will not investigate the crash of the Brazilian Embraer aircraft in accordance with international norms, which resulted in the death of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Reuters.

Prigozhin, along with his two deputies and four bodyguards, was among ten victims in last week's crash of the Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft north of Moscow.

He died two months after organizing a brief rebellion against Russian military leaders, which was the greatest challenge to President Vladimir Putin's rule since he came to power in 1999.

The Brazilian Center for Aircraft Accident Investigation and Prevention (CENIPA) announced that it would join the Russian investigation if invited and that the investigation would be conducted in accordance with international norms for the sake of aviation safety improvement.

The Russian aviation authority was not obligated to agree with CENIPA, but some former investigators have stated that this is necessary as the U.S. and other Western governments suspect the Kremlin may be behind the crash of the Embraer Legacy 600 on August 23.
