Fight at Sevan Beach Results in Death of 22-Year-Old
On August 6, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region, as reported by Shamshyan.com. It was noted that that day, the Sevan Medical Center received a call from the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Police Department, stating that a citizen had been brought in from Sevan's number 1 public beach with a diagnosis of "alcohol intoxication and coma."
The police and investigators established that the individual transported to the hospital was 22-year-old David S. from Yerevan. According to doctors, he was unable to provide an explanation of what had happened as he was in the operating room. After receiving necessary medical assistance, he was transferred via a medical ambulance from the Sevan medical center to Armenia Medical Center in Yerevan.
On August 14, the Armenia Medical Center informed Sevan police that David S. had died in the intensive care unit without regaining consciousness.
By August 22, based on the criminal proceedings initiated by the Sevan investigative department of the Gegharkunik regional investigative committee, the preliminary conclusion from a forensic expert of the Ministry of Health was received. The report indicated that during the forensic examination of David S.'s body, there were injuries to the head, forehead, and lips, and signs of cranio-cerebral trauma and ischemic stroke were detected.
On the same day, a criminal case was initiated in the Sevan investigative department based on Article 166, Part 2, Clause 15 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
According to the website's information, it was determined that 20-year-old Marat H. from Yerevan, along with his friends David S., 25-year-old Hovhannes D. from Gegharkunik region, 26-year-old Gleb S. from Russia, and 20-year-old Georgi Sh. (whose address is being clarified), were at a location approximately 500-800 meters from the "Up side" beach at around 6:00 AM on August 6. An argument broke out between David S. and Gleb S., which turned into a scuffle. During the altercation, both David S. and Gleb S. fell to the ground, resulting in David S. sustaining a head injury. The fight continued, during which Gleb S. struck David S. on the jaw, causing him to lose consciousness and fall.
On August 22, police arrested Marat Harutyunyan near a building on Halabyan Street in Yerevan and G. Shahramanyan on Abelyan Street. Both individuals were transported to the Sevan police department and subsequently presented to the Sevan investigative department.
According to the site’s information, G. Shahramanyan was arrested by the investigator's decision, while M. Harutyunyan was released. The police are taking necessary measures to locate Hovhannes D. and Gleb S.
