Ukraine Cannot Join NATO Until Conflict Ends

Ukraine cannot become a NATO member as long as the conflict continues. This statement was made by Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market.
“As long as the conflict continues in Europe, Ukraine cannot become a NATO member. Otherwise, under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, it would mean that all countries of the alliance would enter into conflict,” stated Breton.
