Poland and the Baltic States Demand Wagner Mercenaries Leave Belarus

Poland and the Baltic States will fully close their borders with Belarus if a dangerous incident involving mercenaries from the Wagner private military company occurs, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński announced on Monday.

He also demanded the removal of illegal migrants from the border area, stating that they had been "pulled there by Belarusian services."
“We demand that the Wagner group immediately leave Belarusian territory, and that illegal migrants exit the border area immediately and be sent back to their countries,” Kamiński said at a press conference in Warsaw, which was also attended by his counterparts from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, which share a border with Belarus, are increasingly concerned about border security following the entry of hundreds of Russian Wagner mercenaries into the country at the invitation of President Alexander Lukashenko.
In recent months, there has also been an increase in the number of migrants at the Polish-Belarusian border, mainly from Middle Eastern and African countries, who are attempting to move to the EU. Polish authorities accuse Belarus of facilitating illegal migration.
