Azerbaijani Authority's Appetite Unfolds: Tatoyan on the Abduction of 3 Young Men
Young individuals heading to Armenia have been taken for questioning, with three of them abducted. This was reported by Armenia's former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page.
“It is clear, isn’t it, that the appetite of the Azerbaijani authorities is unfolding anew. Where are the proponents of false peace at all costs, is there nothing to say?” he wrote. “In the case of the Azerbaijani authorities, even any international guarantees do not hold, let alone in the case of being left alone with them.”
According to current information, the Azerbaijani side has unlawfully deprived and abducted three young people from Artsakh, including through the use of brute force. The young men were traveling to Armenia via the Berdzor (Lachin) road, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, for educational purposes. This indicates that they had prior knowledge of the young men’s journey, similar to the case of Vagif Khachatryan’s abduction, which occurred under the accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
This is absolute arbitrariness; to deprive a person of their freedom unlawfully and abduct them is a criminal act. These are the natural fruits of Azerbaijani fascist anti-Armenian policy. This is what happens when you relinquish your rights, your dignity, and other vital rights at the altar of political interests, when primary issues in the country are secondary or even tertiary, or the question is whether primary issues are even on the agenda at all,” he wrote.
Earlier, we reported that the Information Headquarters of Artsakh announced that the Azerbaijani side had abducted Alen Nelsoni Sargsyan, born in 2001, while he was traveling from Artsakh to Armenia, under the escort of Russian peacekeepers at an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin corridor. It was noted that three youths had been abducted.
