3.5 Months Left: Brother Returned Alive from the War, While Armen Died in Peaceful Conditions

Armen Khachatryan, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound at a combat position of the Armenian Defense Army’s N military unit yesterday, was from Abovyan and had only 3.5 months left of service. This information was reported by Sputnik Armenia, citing one of his relatives.

“The parents were in Russia for work as cooks; they had come to Armenia for a few days to attend a relative's wedding. They are still here,” the relative said.

The website notes that Armen himself had completed culinary courses, adding that Armen Khachatryan's brother participated in the 44-day war. “He returned alive from the war, while Armen died in peaceful conditions,” the relative told the media.

It is mentioned that the other soldier, who according to the Armenian Investigative Committee fired on the senior officer Armen Khachatryan, subsequently committed suicide, was Artem Haikazyan. He was from the Noratus community in the Gegharkunik province. Artem was drafted into the army this January and was the only son in the family with two sisters.

Earlier, it was reported that the Investigative Committee of Armenia stated that soldier A. H. inflicted a fatal gunshot wound on the senior soldier A. K. using his assigned AK-74 assault rifle, and then inflicted a fatal gunshot wound to himself in the neck area using the same weapon.
