17-Year-Old Arrested for Murder of 18-Year-Old: Details

The murder of an 18-year-old has been uncovered, which occurred on August 24. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

It was reported that on August 24 at 1:20 a.m., an 18-year-old was admitted to the Saint Astvatsamayr Medical Center with a "stab wound to the left side of the chest." He was subsequently hospitalized in the intensive care unit but did not regain consciousness and died.

As a result of investigative actions carried out by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, the essential circumstances of the incident and the identity of the person suspected of committing the alleged crime have been determined. The suspect is a resident of Yerevan, born in 2006.

It has been established that on August 24, 2023, around 12:30 a.m., the 17-year-old met with the older brother of the victim, an 18-year-old, in a garden adjacent to one of the buildings on H. Hovhannisyan Street in Yerevan. This confrontation was linked to a previous personal dispute involving the younger brother of the victim. During the argument, the 17-year-old struck the victim in the chest with a sharp cutting-piercing object, causing life-threatening injuries.

On August 25, the 17-year-old voluntarily reported to the Shengavit division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was presented to the prosecuting body and provided a self-incriminating statement.

Based on sufficient collected evidence, a petition was submitted to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal proceedings against the 17-year-old, which was granted, and he was charged under Article 155, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder). It is noted that he has been detained as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
