No Attack, So Neither You Nor They Need to Worry: Lukashenko
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko advised the West not to worry about the upcoming exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) set to begin on September 1. He remarked, “To be honest, I haven't even delved into the details of these exercises. But to avoid escalation given the current situation, I must say there is no combat element involved. There will be small units from several CSTO countries primarily focusing on staff issues, tactics, and strategies for the future. They all know this, and we warned them in advance,” according to BELTA.
At the same time, the Belarusian leader expressed confidence that the appropriate topics will be utilized in the West. “There, Putin and Lukashenko are once again planning something in Belarus and are nearly preparing an attack on poor Poland... that is not the case. There is no attack. We are working on routine matters that have long been planned. Therefore, neither you nor they need to be concerned,” assured the Belarusian president.
Earlier, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Armenia would not participate in the CSTO rescue exercises. The CSTO includes Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
