VIDEO: Chinese President's Assistant Denied Access to Meeting Room at BRICS Summit
During the BRICS summit, an assistant to Chinese President Xi Jinping was denied access to accompany the president into the meeting room. The video shows the assistant being held back as the doors are closed.
Moreover, during his speech at the summit, President Xi stated: "We have gathered at a time when the world is undergoing reconfiguration. This is a period of turbulence and transformation." He emphasized that countries need to work together to restore and develop supply chains, overcome disruptions, and expand economic, trade, and financial exchanges.
"BRICS must strengthen strategic partnerships and support each other on key issues that represent the common interests of countries," he added.
It is also noteworthy that President Xi unexpectedly skipped the BRICS business forum held in South Africa, sending the country's trade minister in his place. The minister spoke on his behalf, condemning "U.S. hegemony," according to the BBC's Russian service.
Remember, over 40 representatives from around the world attended the BRICS summit that started yesterday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
