On August 21, a major car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 11:30 PM, a collision took place on the 25 km stretch of the Tsovagyugh-Shorja-Vardenis road between a Toyota 4Runner driven by French citizen Maviyan Axel Hovhannes and a ZIL 131 vehicle driven by 55-year-old Albert Marzoumanian, a resident of Kotayk.

The website Shamshyan.com reported that as a result of the accident, the driver of the Toyota and his passengers, 25-year-old Albert Kirakosyan and 26-year-old Artavazd Muradyan, both residents of Yerevan, were transported with injuries to the Jambarak outpatient center. Out of the three injured, two are French citizens.
