Pentagon Awaits Completion of Counteroffensive Before Discussing Conflict Resolution
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Armed Forces, General Mark Milley, believes it is too early to discuss the possibility of resolving the conflict in Ukraine diplomatically until the Ukrainian armed forces' counteroffensive is completed. In an interview with the Washington Post, the American military leader stated, "I'm not going to comment on future developments, ongoing negotiations, or anything like that. I would say that there are various pathways to achieving these goals. And right now I would say that it is probably still early to be talking about that. The counteroffensive itself is not yet exhausted. We need to see how all that will end, and then move forward," Milley said, responding to a question from the newspaper's reporter regarding whether there are currently behind-the-scenes negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv concerning the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
