The Violence Video Will Be Investigated by the National Assembly's Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee

National Assembly member Rustam Bakoyan, reacting to a video depicting violence against a child, has instructed the experts of the Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia to investigate the issue and analyze the deep-rooted causes of such unacceptable phenomena.

This statement was made by the legislator on his Facebook page, adding that he plans to take all necessary measures within his authority and utilize the tools available to the legislative body to hold the perpetrator accountable.

“It should be noted that such phenomena are unacceptable in a legal state, where it must be recognized that the well-known provision of the convention states that a child should grow up in a family environment conducive to their complete and multi-faceted development, filled with happiness, love, and understanding,” Bakoyan wrote.

It is worth recalling that a video circulated on the internet showing apparent physical, sexual, and mental violence against a minor, allegedly by family members, particularly the mother. Later, the Armenian police reported that the woman who subjected the minor to violence had been located.
