The 'Red Beret' Who Struck a Young Man at the Wine Festival Has Returned to Work
The 'Red Beret' who struck a young man during the Wine Festival has returned to work, according to MediaHub.
During the festival days, an incident occurred on Saryan Street, where Alexander Azaryan, a member of the special forces unit of the Yerevan Police Department, punched a citizen.
Following the incident, the police officer’s powers were temporarily suspended, and an internal security investigation was initiated.
However, within two months, MediaHub has reported multiple instances of 'Red Beret' Alexander Azaryan serving at the presidential residence.
MediaHub submitted a written inquiry to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, requesting details about the internal investigation results concerning Alexander Azaryan, who is the commander of the 2nd squad of the 2nd platoon of the special forces unit of the Yerevan Police Department. We also inquired about the basis for his release from responsibility.
In response to our inquiry, the Ministry confirmed the fact of Alexander Azaryan's return to work, stating, 'Considering that the maximum term for the internal investigation has expired, Alexander Azaryan's duties have been reinstated in accordance with the provisions of Article 43, Part 9 of the Law on Police Service of the Republic of Armenia. The suspension of Alexander Azaryan’s position in the future is the authority of the preliminary investigation body,' the media reported.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Investigation Department of Especially Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia related to the incident that happened on Saryan Street.
