Belgium Sends Batch of Repaired Leopard 1 Tanks to Ukraine
A batch of repaired Leopard 1 tanks has been sent from Belgium to Ukraine. According to Business AM, the decommissioned vehicles were owned by OIP Land Systems, which resold them to an unnamed European country. However, the Belgian government did not participate in the transaction. Possible buyer countries mentioned in the article include Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands.
After refurbishment, the batch of Leopard 1 tanks was transported to Ukraine via Germany and Italy. Initially, these vehicles were priced at €15,000 each, but now the price for one tank has risen to €500,000.
Later, it became known that the Belgian Leopard 1 tanks sent to Ukraine were purchased by a German conglomerate. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive only 30 tanks instead of the initially planned 50.
