Regulatory Body Employee Engaged in Price Gouging, Says Minister
The Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan, made a post on his Facebook page stating: "I have given one day for regulating the prices of meat products being sold to maintain the basic needs and resilience of the population. I sadly note that due to several systemic issues in the public administration, I find myself personally involved in resolving a number of issues because we encounter personnel problems at every turn, the lack of basic human compassion, and the absence of understanding the necessity for mutual support between the state and society, among others.
At the peak of regulating the selling prices of products in the market, it was reported that an employee of the regulatory body was personally engaged in price gouging of goods. Therefore, under such circumstances, we are continuously reviewing our approaches and constantly fighting against abuses and abusers existing in our environment. Such cases have recently led to rampant increases in the prices of the minimal amount of meat products in the market needed to preserve the basic resilience of the population, especially for the elderly, pregnant women, and children.
During a meeting held today, an instruction was given to regulate the prices of meat products within one day, after which, if the necessary results are not achieved, I will be compelled to take drastic measures. At the same time, I express my gratitude to our compatriots who are in constant contact with me and provide regular information that allows me to gain a full understanding of the nature and origins of various issues, highlight the shortcomings and inaction of state bodies, and support steps aimed at correcting them," the Minister noted.
