‘I will go see what they are deceiving us with’: War participants invited to meeting by the government

Several participants of the war who are currently protesting in Yerevan’s Republic Square have been invited for a meeting with the Armenian government. This was stated by the commander of the ‘Khachakerner’ group, Colonel Sargis Poghosyan, during a conversation with reporters.

“We want war; let them give us weapons. They have called us from the government. I will go, see what they are deceiving us with, and I will come back to tell you the truth,” said Poghosyan.

He did not specify with whom they would be meeting, but promised to provide detailed information upon his return.

It should be noted that for some time now, members of the ‘Khachakerner’ group and their supporters have been gathered near the government building. They are demanding measures to be taken to open the Lachin corridor and to prevent the humanitarian disaster in Artsakh. Otherwise, they express their willingness to take up arms even if it means sacrificing their lives to reopen the Lachin corridor.

It is worth recalling that on December 12, 2022, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothing closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh to Armenia, under the pretext of environmental reasons. They left on April 28, following Azerbaijan's installation of a checkpoint on the Lachin road on April 23.

As a result, Artsakh has also been deprived of gas and electricity supplies from Armenia.
