Judge Ani Chilingaryan Should Directly State What Pashinyan Said to Her, Tovmasyan
The Administrative Court, presided over by Judge Ani Chilingaryan, has rejected the request of Taguhi Tovmasyan to overturn the decision on the termination of her powers as the chairperson of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs. In an interview with 24News, Tovmasyan commented on the decision, stating that she is not surprised, as Nikol Pashinyan had said, ‘Is there a judge who would not follow my orders?’
“Now Judge Ani Chilingaryan must publicly respond to what Nikol Pashinyan has directly or indirectly said to her. I will not back down; I will appeal in all possible courts, up to the European Court of Human Rights, to expose the nakedness of the democracy constructed by Nikol Pashinyan,” added the parliamentarian.
It is noteworthy that on July 11, the ‘Civil Contract’ faction deprived opposition deputy Taguhi Tovmasyan of her position as chair of the Human Rights Protection Committee in parliament with a vote of 62 in favor and 1 against. The authorities explained that the decision was based on her failure to participate in the meetings of the National Assembly Council and her indifferent attitude towards statements that insulted the dignity of citizens and hate speech during the election commission meeting for the Human Rights Defender, as well as her failure to ‘silence’ the candidate Edgar Ghazaryan. Later, Tovmasyan filed a lawsuit in the Administrative Court against the National Assembly, requesting the annulment of the decision on the termination of her powers.
