All Flags in Georgia Lowered as Today Declared a Day of Mourning
All state agencies in Georgia and diplomatic missions abroad have lowered their state flags. Today has been declared a day of mourning in the country in memory of the tragedy that occurred in the resort area of Shovi.
It is noteworthy that search and rescue operations have been ongoing for five days in the massive landslide zone. There is almost no chance of finding any more survivors. About 16 people are still considered missing.
As of the morning of August 7, the bodies of 18 individuals have been discovered in the area of the former Shovi resort. So far, 14 of the deceased have been identified, including children.
Recall that a significant landslide occurred in Shovi on August 3. Bridges, roads, tourist cottages, and the Sunset Shovi hotel have been damaged.
