Cases of Fainting on the Bus: Gas Pipeline Construction Causes Major Traffic Delays in Ajapnyak

A large traffic jam occurred yesterday, August 7, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in the area stretching from the Victory Bridge to Lenigradyan Street. A citizen who contacted NEWS.am reported that the cause was construction related to a gas pipeline.

The individual was on bus number 26 at the time, with a temperature of +38 degrees Celsius and no air conditioning. There were many people on the bus, which created significant discomfort for the passengers.

“At first, a young girl fainted. We asked the driver to open the door, but he refused, arguing that he would get fined, leading to a dispute between the driver and an elderly passenger. Eventually, I got off the bus, and a few stops later, at the Lenigradyan-Sebastia intersection, the traffic jam had cleared. I got back on that bus. At that time, a young boy also fainted, and the driver refused to brake at the stop,” said the interviewee.

The spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Kostanyan, told the media that the construction causing the traffic congestion is related to the installation of a new gas pipeline in the Ajapnyak administrative region. The completion is scheduled for September.

“Given the large volume of work and the number of people waiting for this gas pipeline, we cannot keep people waiting for a long time, so the work is being organized on a daily basis, which will later allow for asphalting and commissioning. We understand the inconveniences faced by citizens, but we must act as quickly as possible,” Kostanyan stated.
