Aghazaryan: Artsakh President Should Have Used 'Tactful' Instead of 'Cautious'
The authorities of Armenia have no right to express any opinions or approaches regarding the right to self-determination of Artsakh without coordinating with the authorities of Artsakh, so the concerns expressed by Arayik Harutyunyan are unfounded. This was stated by Civil Contract faction MP Hovik Aghazaryan in an interview with Tert.am, addressing Harutyunyan's call to the Armenian authorities.
"If Arayik Harutyunyan used the word 'cautious,' I believe that this word is inappropriate and he should have said 'tactful.' Since 2018, has the current Armenian authorities done anything regarding the Artsakh issue without coordinating with the authorities of Artsakh? There is no such thing, nor can there be. Any position of the legitimately elected authorities of the people of Artsakh is the basis for our foreign policy relations. The whole world knows about this," the ruling party MP noted.
Regarding Harutyunyan's statement that the goal of Azerbaijan and certain forces in Armenia is to dismantle Artsakh's state institutions, Aghazaryan does not believe that there are such forces in Armenia. "I do not think that any representative from either the governmental or opposition wings would hold such positions; certainly, there are such forces in Azerbaijan, and that is their state policy. However, I have not noticed such sentiments among anyone here," said the MP from the Civil Contract party.
Recall that during a live broadcast on Artsakh Public Television, the President of the Republic of Artsakh urged the Armenian authorities to be very cautious regarding Artsakh. According to Harutyunyan, no one has the right to question or limit the right to self-determination of Artsakh. He also urged the Armenian authorities to refrain from steps or statements that could undermine Artsakh's self-determination.
