Photos: Church and Trolleybus Shelled in Kherson, Casualties Reported
Russian troops shelled Kherson in the morning, reported Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The church and a nearby trolleybus, which was transporting residents to work, came under fire, stated Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional administration.
According to him, three passengers of the trolleybus were injured in the attack. Among the injured are a 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, as well as a 74-year-old pensioner who sustained severe chest injuries and closed head trauma.
During the firefighting efforts at the Ekaterina Church, which was set ablaze due to Russian shelling, there were repeated shellings, as reported by Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs. Four employees of the State Emergency Service were injured and hospitalized. Special equipment was also damaged, the administration added.
In total, the number of victims from the morning shelling in Kherson has reached seven.
The Kherson administration reported that over the past day, Russian armed forces fired 15 times at the region using 99 shells.
