Video: Man Threatening to Detonate Grenade in Russia Surrenders; Highway Closed for Several Hours
A man armed with a grenade in the Nagayevsky Highway in Ufa, Bashkortostan, has surrendered after being in a standoff. This was reported by local media.
The 39-year-old Ildar requested a meeting with the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov. Security forces and Khabirov himself negotiated with him.
“I can come to you now, but you need to lay down your weapons, and we will talk quietly,” Khabirov said during a phone conversation with the armed man. “I guarantee you that if I can do something for you, I will do it,” he added.
Later, Khabirov arrived at the scene. According to local media reports, the man surrendered after speaking with him, handing over his weapons to the National Guard personnel.
It is worth noting that the section of the Nagayevsky highway was blocked for several hours, causing traffic congestion. Earlier today, Ildar was scheduled to be transferred for forensic psychiatric examination, but he managed to escape during the transport, threatening to detonate the grenade and demanding the dismissal of the criminal case against him.
