International Community Acknowledges Growing Humanitarian Crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh as Real, Says Vardan Sargsyan

The international community has a clear understanding that the deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh is real, and we are dealing with human lives and a real threat to people's lives. This was stated by Vardan Sargsyan, a representative of the working group on humanitarian crisis management in Nagorno-Karabakh, during a conversation with reporters yesterday, August 1.

He emphasized with regret that there are still no changes regarding the transportation of humanitarian aid; however, there is a noticeable increase in concerns and attention from the international community regarding the situation.

“In particular, we are witnessing statements and appeals from the USA, various European institutions, international human rights organizations, and different political parties in France. In these messages, there is a clear and targeted call for Azerbaijan to open the Lachin corridor, which has been closed for nearly eight months, and not to obstruct the transport of humanitarian goods,” Sargsyan highlighted.

He also referred to the severe incidents occurring in Artsakh, mentioning that people are fainting in bread lines. “There is an acute shortage of food, medicine, and essential goods, while once again our humanitarian assistance—19 trucks carrying flour that could help prevent incidents in bread lines, and medicine that could address those needs—remains stagnant, and the cargo has not reached its destination,” he underscored.

According to him, there has been no response from Russian peacekeepers, and the situation regarding the transfer remains unchanged.
