Video: Mobile Internet Disabled After Opposition Leader's Arrest in Senegal
Mobile internet in Senegal has been disabled since last night following the arrest of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko, who is seen as pro-Russian. This was reported by Senegal24News, referencing a statement from the Ministry of Communication of Senegal.
The Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Economy announced the temporary suspension of mobile internet access starting Monday due to threats of unrest and the spread of calls for protests on social media. According to the ministry, the suspension of mobile internet is a preventive measure to avoid public disorder.
Today, protests have extended beyond the capital of Senegal, with demands for the release of the opposition leader.
