VIDEO: Protests Continue in Georgia
Currently, protests are ongoing in Batumi, Georgia, against the arrival of a cruise ship transporting Russian tourists. This is reported by Georgian media.
It is also reported that the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has urged protesters not to go out and participate in the rallies.
According to Georgian media, those arrested attempted to breach police barriers set up near the port. However, the exact number of offenders has not been disclosed.
At the port, police officers have continued to monitor the safety of vacationers, and the area has been cordoned off.
It is noteworthy that the cruise ship arrived in Batumi early in the morning. Late at night, representatives of opposition parties and civil society gathered there. The protesters assert that there are individuals on the cruise ship who support military actions in Ukraine and are in favor of Georgia’s secession from Abkhazia. Reinforced police units have been deployed at the port.
