Russia Reserves Right to Take Tough Measures: Russian Foreign Ministry on Taganrog Shelling

Russia reserves the right to take tough response measures following the missile shelling of Taganrog by Ukraine and drone attacks on Moscow, stated Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“We strongly condemn the latest criminal actions of the Kyiv regime against civilian populations and peaceful infrastructure. These actions clearly had no military significance. We call on the international community and organizations to condemn the use of terrorist methods by the Ukrainian authorities,” Zakharova's statement on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website stated.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the morning of July 28, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack with a drone targeting facilities in the Moscow region was thwarted. The drone was destroyed by air defense measures.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that the Kyiv regime had carried out a terrorist attack on the residential infrastructure of Taganrog in Rostov Region using an S-200 surface-to-air missile. The Ukrainian missile was detected and destroyed in the air by Russian air defense forces. Fragments of the Ukrainian missile fell in the vicinity of Taganrog.

Moreover, it was noted that, “on July 28, around 5:15 PM, a second attempt at a terrorist attack was made by the Kyiv regime using an S-200 surface-to-air missile converted for strike capability.” The Ukrainian missile was intercepted by Russian air defense forces in the area of Azov in Rostov Region. Fragments of the intercepted missile fell in an uninhabited area.
