Former Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakaryan Summoned to Court in Mher Sedrakyan's Criminal Case
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: "Former National Assembly deputy Mher Sedrakyan has summoned former Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakaryan to the Avan district court in relation to the criminal case against him. Zakaryan is appearing in court as a witness, and there are indications that his testimony will take a considerable amount of time.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, former deputy Mher Sedrakyan, widely known as Tokhmakh Mher, appeared at the Avan seat of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction. His case has been under investigation at the Avan seat for two years, with Judge Vahagn Melikyan presiding over the proceedings.
What are the charges against former deputy Mher Sedrakyan? He has been charged with abusing his official authority during his tenure from 1999 to 2008 as the head of the Erebuni community, driven by greed and personal interests. It is alleged that in 2004, with the support of community council members, he misused his official powers, using his position in opposition to the service and interests of the Erebuni community, resulting in significant damage to the rights and legal interests of the community, which carelessly caused serious consequences. The case is currently in the trial phase.
It should be noted that the evidence examination phase is ongoing, and the parties did not wish the media to film the court session. Besides Mher Sedrakyan, five others have also been implicated as defendants: Levon Kochinyan, Hrachya Ayvazyan, Svetlana Petik Aslanyan, Karlen Razmik Gevorgyan, and Vahan Gevorgi Gevorgyan. The charges are considered unfounded.
