VIDEO: I Hope We Can Successfully Transfer Humanitarian Cargo to Russian Peacekeepers - Edmon Marukyan
Azerbaijan has blocked around 120,000 people and subjected them to starvation, said Special Envoy Edmon Marukyan during a conversation with journalists in Kornidzor.
According to him, this is a violation of international humanitarian law. “In this regard, we have made every possible effort to demonstrate this, and it is very evident. You saw yesterday that all the ambassadors accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have studied and seen the cargo. Comprehensive work is being done at the diplomatic level, as well as at the humanitarian level. Our actions in this regard are very predictable and consistent with the obligations we assumed on November 9,” he emphasized.
Marukyan stressed that all necessary actions are being taken, but the humanitarian crisis is deepening day by day. “We must continue our efforts, and I hope that we will manage to transfer this cargo to the Russian peacekeeping forces.”
In response to the journalists' observation about whether Ararat Mirzoyan raised this initiative with Lavrov and Bayramov during the meeting in Moscow, Marukyan noted: “The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia raised the issues of reopening the Lachin corridor and eliminating the blockade during the meeting under the obligations of November 9. Our minister should not only raise the issue of 360 tons of cargo but rather should focus on the opening of the corridor itself, which has, of course, been raised and discussed during the meeting.”
It is noteworthy that since yesterday, 19 trucks that were supposed to deliver humanitarian cargo to Artsakh have been stranded in Kornidzor.
