About 500 Private Homes in Sari Tag Have Found Themselves in the Embrace of the 1990s

Today, on July 26, in Sari Tag, a large number of residents have gathered near the well-known "Sari Tag Calcination Plant," demanding that the authorities finally respond to why they have found themselves in the embraces of the 1990s for over five years. This was reported by shamshyan.com.

In a conversation with the media, residents stated, "We haven't known which authority will address our electricity issues for about five years. We have become participants in a disconnected phone game. We call 'Armenian Electric Networks,' the city hall hotlines, the district administration; all of them have already noted our numbers. In many cases, as soon as they see our phone numbers, they don’t even answer. For five years, we, the residents of Sari Tag with 450-500 private homes, do not know how many times we have raised alarms. The saying goes, 'there's a count for the stars in the sky,' but there's no count for our calls. Just today, we barely had electricity for an hour. Currently, several houses on a few streets remain without power.

Years ago, we installed a transformer with our own efforts, which at least partially satisfied our needs. However, over the years, additional buildings and structures have emerged in the area, including factories, restaurant complexes, car wash points, and stone processing plants. All of these are supplied with electricity from our installed transformer, which is very weak.

“Armenian Electric Networks” needs to take a more caring approach to its consumers. In this case, we are the consumers representing about 500 households. We all make regular payments, even when we are without power for days. They say they are working according to European standards. In Europe, if consumer electricity is cut for an hour, responsible officials would be held accountable and required to compensate for the damage caused to the consumer. But here, the reality is different.

Once we used to ask for a resolution, but now we demand it. If the issue is not resolved in a short period, we will be forced to take extreme measures—blocking roads. They say to maintain sanitary and hygienic standards this summer, but without electricity, we cannot run water pumps, so what should we do?

Today, we can also resort to drastic measures. But for now, we are refraining from blocking roads, hoping that the problem will be resolved at least now. The only right solution to the problem is to install a new, more powerful transformer.

Residents are currently waiting for the head of the Erebuni administrative district and representatives of “Armenian Electric Networks” to arrive.

Meanwhile, following the instructions of Erebuni district head Hakob Balayan, Deputy Head of the Administrative District Petros Sargsyan and Head of the Utilities Department Levon Hovhannisyan have arrived for a meeting with residents, promising that they will work with the officials of “Armenian Electric Networks” to resolve the issue in a short time.

After speaking with one of the officials from the electric network, the utilities chief informed the residents that they promised to resolve the issue within a week. Residents are skeptical since they have been promised a solution for the past five years, and now they are halting their protest actions.
