Service Member Accused of Killing Murad Grigoryan: Investigative Committee
A service member has been accused of fatally shooting fellow service member Murad Grigoryan while on duty at a combat post. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Earlier, it was disclosed that on July 26, the body of Murad Sergey Grigoryan, a soldier from military unit N of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, was found in a nearby area of the ground-level structure at the combat post, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A machine gun attached to the soldier was located beside him.
“During the investigation, it was determined that the fatal gunshot wound inflicted on Murad Grigoryan was caused by A.H., a fellow conscript service member, during an argument over a personal matter that escalated from insults exchanged during a conversation between them at the same combat post,” the statement from the Investigative Committee reads.
A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against A.H., with charges filed under the first part of Article 155 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder). A.H. has admitted his guilt regarding the charges and expressed remorse for his actions.
On July 28, a motion was submitted to the court to choose detention as a preventive measure for A.H., which was granted.
