Nikol Pashinyan Feels Safe in Vahagn Khachaturyan's Office at Baghrevyan 26

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has changed his workplace since June of this year, relocating to Baghrevyan 26, the presidential residence. This move comes as renovations are being carried out in the government building, according to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd."

“It should be noted that this building underwent capital repairs back in 2019, costing 124.5 million drams, or about 325,000 USD. Since then, the government building has seen numerous alterations and renovations. At the end of last year, an approximately 16 million dram elevator was installed, expensive carpets were purchased, and marble tiles were laid down. An additional 17.5 million drams were allocated for upgrading the heating system of the government staff building. After all this, the authorities have once again decided to conduct renovation work. It appears that Nikol Pashinyan feels very secure at Baghrevyan 26 and may decide to establish himself there permanently,” the newspaper reports.

According to the newspaper, Pashinyan's security staff informed him that frequent protests occurring near the government building are quite close, making entry into the building easier, which is why he feels secure in Baghrevyan 26. However, this situation has caused discomfort for President Vahagn Khachaturyan, as Pashinyan has now occupied Khachaturyan's office, prompting the president to move to another office.

The newspaper attempted to ascertain from the Prime Minister's office when the renovations of the Prime Minister's office in the Government building would be completed and whether Pashinyan intends to stay at Baghrevyan 26. “The contracts for the ongoing renovation work in the administrative building of the Prime Minister's office have been published in accordance with the law... After the completion of the renovation work, the Prime Minister will continue his activities in the Government building,” the government stated.

According to the information provided to us, the renovation began on May 8, 2023, and is expected to be completed by September 5.
