Video: Economist Professor Critical of Aliyev Arrested

An Azerbaijani journalist and blogger, Nurlana Khalil, has reported that Azerbaijan's leader, Ilham Aliyev, has ordered the arrest of economist professor, University of London lecturer, and academic Gubad Ibadoglu.

"The reason for the arrest was the economist's criticism of the corrupt and predatory policies of Aliyev's regime in Azerbaijan," the journalist wrote. The footage has been published showing the arrest of Gubad Ibadoglu, where police officers can be seen concealing the detention process with cloaks.
