Video: People Mass Evacuated from Rhodes Island Due to Wildfires
People are being mass evacuated from Rhodes Island due to forest fires. This was reported by the spokesman of the Greek fire service, Ioannis Artopios. According to him, the fire has reached the Kiotari area. As stated by Gazeta.ru,
“For this reason, an order has been given to evacuate the residents of Asklipiyo and Kiotari to the number 112. All hotel evacuations have been carried out smoothly, and it is presumed that more than two thousand people have been rescued by sea,” he said, adding that the intense heat creates dangerous conditions for the spread of the fires.
He noted that a fire risk is anticipated in Attica, Evia, Larissa, Argolis, Corinth, and Messinia.
Previously, Greece's Minister of Defense Panos Kammenos stated that fires in Greece cannot be extinguished without Russian Be-200 amphibious aircraft.
