Russia Capable of Replacing Ukrainian Grain Both Commercially and Free of Charge: Putin

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has penned an article titled "Russia and Africa: Uniting Forces for Peace, Progress, and a Successful Future." He outlined key areas of cooperation between the two nations ahead of joint initiatives and expressed a desire to maintain economic ties with Africa, as well as the supply of grain and fertilizers.

In the article, Putin spoke of the "strong and deep" roots of the partnership between Russia and Africa, which are particularly significant in the "current global situation" that is anything but stable. In this context, it is stated that Russia plans to "develop a non-discriminatory agenda for cooperation with African partners."

During the Russia-Africa summit, set to take place on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg, a comprehensive declaration is expected to be adopted, along with several joint statements, and the establishment of an action plan for the partnership forum until 2026. Additionally, a package of intergovernmental agreements and memoranda is also set to be signed.

Among other issues, the President referenced the grain deal, criticizing the conditions under which it was implemented. "I want to assure you that our country is capable of replacing Ukrainian grain both commercially and as humanitarian aid, especially since we anticipate another record yield this year," Putin wrote. Russia exited the agreement on July 17.

The head of state also noted that trade between Russia and African countries reached nearly $18 billion in 2022, while indicating that Russian companies are interested in more active cooperation, including the establishment of new transport and logistics chains, as well as the development of mechanisms for the financial and monetary system and mutual settlements.
