Our Goal is to Establish an Electric Car Factory: Vahan Kerobyan

Our goal is to establish an electric car factory. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, in an interview with Public Television.

“We are negotiating with various car manufacturers. Recently, I even made a public announcement that I visited the "Beijing" automobile concern, which is the 5th largest car manufacturer in China. We are essentially starting a certain process with them to understand whether establishing electric vehicle production in Armenia would be a worthwhile investment or not,” he said.

Speaking about the recently produced cars by the "Sepuh" company in Armenia, Kerobyan stated that they are intended for both the local market and export. “Naturally, it will be difficult to speak about exports with such small volumes; these are for local sales. However, that does not matter to us. What is important for us is the industry. And it is good that we are taking this new step in that direction, though it is small, but it has great potential,” he noted.

Regarding the price of the car, which is estimated at $30,000 to $40,000, the head of the department said: “Naturally, the product must correspond in quality and price to today’s market environment, supply, and demand. And naturally, investors understand this incomparably better than I or you.”

When asked about the name of the car, Kerobyan said that the question should be directed to the investors: “I suggest directing all these questions to the investors themselves. They would be happy to respond.”
