Putin Raises Military Reserve Age Limit by 5 Years

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has signed a law that raises the military reserve age limit by five years for military personnel, sailors, sergeants, and citizens with lower military ranks. The decree has been published on the legal acts portal, as reported by kommersant.ru.

The age limit for being in the mobilization reserve has been increased to 65 years for senior officers (up from 60), to 60 years for junior officers (up from 55), and to 55 years for other ranks (up from 45). The age limit for those with senior officer ranks remains unchanged at 70 years.

It is noted that the bill was introduced to the State Duma in November 2022 and was prepared by a group of deputies led by the chairman of the Defense Committee, Andrey Kartapolov. The initiative was approved in its third reading on July 18.
