Dozens of Cases Where Azerbaijan Did Not Allow Transfer of Bodies to Blockaded Artsakh
For already 7 months, Artsakh has been under complete blockade, during which there have been numerous cases where people were unable to transfer the bodies of their deceased parents and relatives to Artsakh due to road closures. This was stated today in an interview with Oragir.News by Armine Hayrapetyan, the press secretary of the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in the Republic of Armenia.
“The Azerbaijani side does not allow even deceased people to be transferred to Artsakh and buried in their ancestral land, in family cemeteries. There have been cases where a husband was killed, the wife passed away in Yerevan during treatment, and their son could not unite his two parents. The mortality cases vary, and there have been publications in the press as well. During these 7 months, there have been about 50 such cases where citizens of Artsakh, including those living abroad, could not transfer their deceased to Artsakh,” stated Armine Hayrapetyan.
